In order to carry out all the projects that Kiwanis is involved with throughout the year, each member is asked to join one or more committees.

Responsible for ensuring money/checks get into the bank for both administrative and service/foundation. Works with committee members in preparing quarterly member statements. Submits dues report at monthly board meeting.

We have two boards--our Foundation board and our Administrative board. The directors and officers are one and the same, for a total of 16. Officers and directors meet monthly to provide club governance and direction for the future.
Club-3-2-1 Satellite
Pierce, Jeff Pierson
This group of Downtown Kiwanis members is a 3-2-1 club. It meets once a month. In addition to the monthly meeting, it has a couple hours of social/networking each month, and participates in three hours of service. Guests, and prospective members are welcome!

Children & Family Urban Movement--with money from our weekly table baskets, we provide 3 or 4 meals each year for the Moulton School neighborhood at the Children & Family Urban Movement facilities. Sometimes as many as 175 adults and children attend.
CS-Feeding Hungry Children
Sickles, Diana
Examining subject of food insecurity, particularly for children. Develops plans to educate club/public; plans events such a food pantry drives, community gardens, etc. Pilot program for Nebraska-Iowa District Service Committee which focuses on food-related issues throughout the district.

Helps pick up donated food from Price Chopper at 35th & Ingersoll and deliver to the DMARCC Food Pantry at 1435 Mulberry Street. Also helps make up $6 and $12 sacks of most needed item for sale in the store. Foundation Investments

This committee meets semi-annually to review current state of investments in the Kiwanis Club of Des Moines Foundation. The chair annually presents status of Foundation at a weekly club meeting.
Kiwanis World Get Away Committee

Committee in charge of the annual fundraising raffle.
Brady, Justin
Develops annual plans for membership/growth of the club including goals, objectives, and methods of strengthening the club. Plans activities; conducts orientation for new members. ALL club members are members of this committee. Our goal is 100 members by 2018, when we celebrate our 100th Anniversary.
Public Relations

Provides overall direction for the club's image in the community. May handle press releases, club service project announcements, etc.
Service Leadership Programs/Youth Protection
Croll, Amy
Coordinates activities of K Kids Clubs, Builders Club, Key Club, Circle K, & YCPO. Responsible for development of club's Youth Protection Guidelines and administers background checking program through Kiwanis International.
SLP-Greenwood Elementary K Kids
Strayer, Paul
Coordinates all activities with members/faculty advisor of Greenwood K Kids Club. Serves as liaison between K Kids and DT Kiwanis Club.
SLP-Lincoln Key Club
Wierenga, Joan
Kadner, Robin
Provides liaison between Lincoln Key Club and DM Kiwanis. Aids in development of leadership and team/building skills and promotes community service with emphasis on kids. Attends meetings every other Wednesday, 12:40 PM, room 3470, Lincoln High School. Solicits club members to help with service projects and fund raisers and vice versa.
Speaker Committee

Committee is responsible for finding new speakers for every Wednesday lunch meeting.
Special Requests
Herlocker, Evan
This committee provides its recommendations to the board for allocation of financial resources to various entities needing our help--either monetarily or time. The chair is the vice president of the board and its members are the four new board members each year.
